LUMIX Long Weekend - Torridon
Kit: LUMIX S1R, 50mm F1.4, 24-105mm F4 / Lumix gh5, lumix gx8, 42.5mm f1.2, 12mm f1.4 / 120 film
Created in partnership with LUMIX UK, this is the fourth in a series of twelve photo sets I will be publishing in 2019. While the term ‘long weekend’ is often associated with short trips to mainland Europe, the aim of this series is to highlight the vast range of landscapes and wildlife that can be found within the UK and Ireland.
This post is a little different from the others I’ve shared to date. For starters, it includes images shot on just about every LUMIX camera/lens I have ever owned. Even more unusually, it includes a video and a couple of 120mm film scans.
In the space of less than twelve months, I climbed Beinn Alligin twice: once in July 2018, then again in April of this year. What struck me most on my second visit was how much it contrasted to my first. Whereas the initial hike was characterised by lush greens, ‘ambient’ weather and blood-thirsty midges, the second saw us make the ascent under clear-blue skies in unseasonably warm conditions.
I hope that this set gives some sense of what it’s like to walk the ‘Mountain of Beauty’, and a tiny glimpse into all that Torridon has to offer.
