LUMIX Long Weekend - Assynt

Created in partnership with LUMIX UK, this is the fifth in a series of photo sets I will be publishing in 2019. While the term ‘long weekend’ is often associated with short trips to mainland Europe, the aim of this series is to highlight the vast range of landscapes and wildlife that can be found within the UK and Ireland.  

In early September, my friend Joe and I spent a few days exploring the Assynt area in the North West Highlands. Basing ourselves out of a static Land Rover Defender at Mac & Wild’s wonderful Falls of Shin location, we headed off each morning in the hope of making a few photographs, crossing our fingers that the rain wouldn’t thwart our ambitions.

As it turned out, our stay would be one of two halves. Whereas Saturday was spent darting in and out of the car, attempting to dry off our clothes in the short intervals between downpours, the conditions were much kinder to us on Sunday. Beginning with the Falls of Shin and ending at Wailing Widow Falls, I hope that the images in this set manage to convey the stunning beauty of this region.
